Soooooo... After a bad experience with the food being undercooked here I stopped going for a little while and shortly thereafter, a report from the local news surfaced listing this restaurant as one of the top 20 worst offenders in central florida as far as health violations go. I leave a second star purely for the memories. Not recommended.

Went for the lunch buffet, and was pleasently surprised. Small crowd, great service, awesome food. Price listed as $6.95 all you can eat buffet, tax plus tip landed me at about $11.00. Well worth it. I walked in, was seated and drink order was taken. Then was released to attack the buffet. Perfect spot for a quick lunch. I havent tried the dinner service, but with the quality of the food in the buffet, i can only guess that the dinner food quality will be just as good, if not better. Very happy.

Food was average, what you would expect. Came a little further because of the General Tso's tofu but Chin Hua's is better. Ordered chow mein and got lo mein which was disappointing. OK option if it's your local place but not worth a trip.

I should start this review by saying I have a bit of a bias. China Chef's location is definitely convenient and the fact that they deliver, doubly so. All of that being said, they have some really delicious food if you go deeper than the usual friend rice, lo mein, and orange chicken. One of my favorite items on their menu is the Wor Shu Duck. The skin on the duck is crispy and soft. If you like the more traditional dishes, the Mongolian Beef (extra spicy) is fantastic and even better (spicy) when you reheat the leftovers the following day. The vegetarian selections on the menu are very good as well. The staff at China Chef are always friendly and accommodating. Stop by on Sundays for their great buffet spread.

I've been looking for a Chinese restaurant to fill that hole in my life. After many terrible general tso's chicken, I discovered this place. Now, my favorite things in a Chinese restaurant are general tso's chicken, pork lo mein, and wonton soup. The pork lo mein is amazing here. The wonton soup is good, it has a nice gingery taste that most restaurant don't have. Sometimes it needs more salt but the flavors are there. The general tso's chicken was actually too garlicky for me, BUT!, their orange chicken tastes exactly like my favorite Chinese takeout's general tso's chicken. So if you like general tso's, try the orange! Anyways, lunch specials run until 3:30 so they're great if you eat lunch late like me, the food is always ready on time, and they always have everything packed for me. I think I found a winner!

My favorite Chinese in the area. The biggest draw is the lunch buffet. For just under $7 you can enjoy most of your favorite Chinese dishes. If they're running low, or if you're there closer to the end of lunch, they're happy to cook a fresh order for the buffet upon request. Their fried rice is super delicious, but I also enjoy their noodles. Ribs, chicken dishes, pork dishes, beef dishes--everything is tasty. The staff is always very friendly, and delivery is an option, but they do cook those orders on demand, so it may take a bit longer--so worth it.

Excellent, excellent lunch buffet. $7 and everything is fresh and delicious. This is the only Chinese food I will eat in Orlando. All others pale in comparision.

I went here craving chinese food and had read some of the reviews prior to me coming here. I was not impressed by far. The chicken wings were greasy and dripping grease with each bite and the tea taste just like sugar water. The rice was palatable and the spring roll was good. Dont think ill be coming back but it decent if you are not into real chinese food.

Okay, I really don't understand how this place averages 4 stars. I really didn't like anything here, not even the fried rice! The only thing I love, and I've never seen anyone mess these up, are the little fried donuts coated in sugar. Other than that, blah...

We get delivery from them fairly often and like it enough to be repeat customers. You can order online, which I like. Who wants to talk to someone on the phone? (But one time I made a mistake online, and I just called them up and changed it easily, so if you do talk to them on the phone, it's no big deal.) Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've always gotten my food delivered quickly after ordering, definitely within 30 minutes but often times much faster. Food is hot and tasty. It's not the best Chinese food ever, but the portions are large enough that we always have leftovers for the next day, and the food always satisfies my craving for some good ol' American Chinese food. I've never been in the store, but China Chef is my go-to for delivery.

I have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in this area and this place is amazing!!! I had the chicken and broccoli and it was the best I've had in years. I'm always weary of random Chinese restaurants but I saw the great reviews and decided to try it. Glad I did. This will definitely be my new Chinese food spot.

The Winter Park/UCF/Fullsail area don't have too many good consistent Chinese food restaurants. This is a family owned restaurant, that provides great Chinese classics and great service. Everything taste's the way it should, and is always extremely fresh. I mostly come for the lunch buffet, so I can get a little bit of everything. The chicken and broccoli is wonderful, and the wait staff always remembers their regulars. Compared to other larger buffet's, China Chef proves the rule, "Quality over Quantity" Pepsi products, so you can get a Mt. Dew!

Surprisingly I like their food. A quality that I liked best was that they cooked their buffet food in small portions. The minute something runs out they cook a fresh batch of it. They don't have a very wide selection but for the size of the place, it's decent. The servers are very friendly and are constantly going around doing their checks on the guests.

I love Chinese food and the majority of restaurants I have been to in the past have just been "ok." China Chef is far from ok as it has more than exceeding my expectations! It is a little pricey; however, considering when I order, I'm always ordering for myself and my husband, it's more than enough food to fill us completely and we always have leftovers for the next day. I cannot rave enough about the honey chicken. It has always been my favorite Chinese chicken dish and China Chef whips up the tastiest honey chicken I have ever put in my mouth. They also make the best lo mien I have ever tasted. Another favorite of mine which I must add to every order is the fried beef won tons. The fried rice and won ton soup are both good, nothing special, just your usual fried rice and won ton soup. While I have not tried it because I am not a huge fan of spicy foods, my husband reports to me their general tso's chicken is the best he has had. My husband also reports the egg rolls are good, but he has had better. The one grievance I have is the people who deliver for the restaurant. The restaurant charges a delivery fee and then when the good is delivered to my door, I always get a frown and a "look" from the delivery person for handing them only a few dollars. I've already paid a delivery fee to the restaurant; sorry, but I'm not going to hand over a gigantic tip on top of the fee I've already paid. It's like they expect a $10 tip for driving two blocks down the road. The attitude is annoying. So, to keep from having to deal with the delivery people, we simply drive the two blocks ourselves now and pick up our order.

I don't want to hand out 5's like they're free (oh wait, they are) but I am really impressed by this restaurant! Maybe it's because when I lived on this side of town (until recently) I couldn't really find very good chinese food, but I have gotten 2 different dishes from China Chef and was pleased both times. 1- This time I tried a bunch of different dishes, including cashew chicken, which were just great. Crispy, fresh, the right amount of spice, not too heavy and not too light-- the flavors were just right. 2- This time I got my own dish of curry chicken with fried rice. This was really great too. I got some kind of combo that allowed me to get an egg roll too. Yum! I highly recommend China Chef for your chinese food if you live in the Winter Park area; I've tried quite a few places around that were fairly disappointing. Oh, one more thing- I've only gone for dinner and take out, not the lunch buffet or eat in, so I can't speak to that. Also, not that I will take away my 5 stars, but the fortune cookies were a little stale ;)

China chef of Winter Park I was looking for a Chinese buffet in the nearby area. Found China chef on Yelp. The buffet a selection is small and consisted of a lot of chicken the dishes but the food is fresh. in the desert section the ice cream was old. The other desert for fun. I believe for the price in value of the food I will be returning. F.j.k.

Replace the usual jade with mauve of any other Chinese restaurants and you have China Chef, a little restaurant near the Kmart over by FullSail. I was expecting a Chinese buffet and was initially disappointed to learn that the buffet is only for lunch, ending at two. I open the menu to once again be taken aback by the prices of the entrees, which ranged from $8-$13, expensive, in my opinion, for a chinese buffet joint. About to walk out, I changed my mind and decided to give it a go. While the entrees are certainly not cheap, you certainly get your money's worth. The plate of Lo Mein was heaping, so big I could have easily made a meal for two with room to spare. The little chinese woman who took our order, combined with the chinese karaoke videos playing on the television in the corner made it a really enjoyable experience.

I wanted to visit China Chef after reading the reviews on Yelp. I ordered a beef with mixed vegetable lunch combo. The food was sub-par in fact I didn't even finish my meal. The beef was chewy and the vegetables which would normally be bite-sized were hardly chopped at all. There are definitely better Chinese restaurants around.

i know it may sound odd, but it is actually hard to get decent chinese fast food. I dropped by China Chef today and was glad to find their general tso's chicken fresh, warm, and tasty and their pork fried rice was similarly delicious. not bad for one of the few stores left open on this strip mall where a movie theatre and kmart have recently abandoned. their egg roll could have used some improvement as it was a bit tough to chew on and not as crispy as i had hoped. visit tastychomps.blogspot.com for more pics

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
